ATELIER DE LAUNAY, created in 1971, imagines and realizes urban planning for architects, landscape architects, cities. Our creations are made in harmony with the environment, both ancient and modern.
We are a group of sculptors and craftsmen who conceive and construct urban projects. We also install our creations and look after them.
Unique sculptural structures are based on a theme (historic, literary, artistic, fantastic) and are designed with the users of the space. Our main materials are wood (oak, sequoia, cedar), stainless steel or granite. The installations resist the weather and belong to the landscape for many years.
We recognize European safety norms and each project is controlled by one of the four approved laboratories, Les Laboratoires Pourquery. Atelier de Launay works across Europe and all over France - from Marseille to Le Havre, from Nantes to Strasbourg, and the Paris area.
Before imagining our designs, Atelier de Launay studies the area, thinks about the history of the place and meets with local adults and children. We respect the population’s wishes and the characteristics of the place. Each area is given a special answer and a new story.

THIS IS ATELIER DE LAUNAY, SINCE 1971
Creating a playground is not about placing prefabricated programs. The planning of a playground should change the link between the people and the space. Designs come from specific histories and memories of people.
The new space is the result of collective collaboration : ideas shared between the community and Atelier de Launay.
To shelter, to lie down, to appear, to swing, to snuggle, to hide, to climb, to crawl, to cross a bridge, to discover, to fall, to get lost, to find, to go down, to go for a walk, to go through a tunnel, to go up, to hang from, to jump, to imagine stories, to make noise, to move, to play games, to perch, to roll, to run, to slide, to stride, to touch, to spin, to turn upside down, to watch, to step, to meet…
These playgrounds go beyond typical play functions to awaken the active imaginations of all users (children, teenagers, adults, elderly).
